My Story

I am a 28-year-old, stay-at-home wife, small business owner and community volunteer. I was born in West Monroe, Louisiana, moved to Grand Junction, Colorado right before kindergarden, then moved back  to West Monroe until the middle of my junior year of high school. You must be thinking “army brat,” but my father was in manufacturing and we moved wherever the company needed him. When I was 16 my family moved to Lexington, Ohio for my dad to re-enter higher education (both parents have Ph. D’s).

I graduated and went to the University of Toledo for college with a degree in Paralegal Studies. I also was heavily involved on campus and working in orientation, res life, and joined Chi Omega. After all my great undergrad experiences, I decided to apply for grad schools for a Student Affairs Program. That journey brought me to Texas A&M University (Class of ’08 Whoop!) and I started my two year program in Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAAHE). I worked as a Graduate Assistant in Greek Life while also becoming a Chi Omega advisor.

After graduating in 2008, I joined the staff at The Association of Former Students working with current student organizations on campus. This is also where I met my husband who is still the Director of IT there (very handy when you break anything involving technology). We got married in June 2010 and started trying to have a family shortly after that.

After a year of trying to get pregnant, with a miscarriage in the 3rd month, we went back to my OB to talk about next moves. It appeared that everything was perfect for both of us. I ovulated, had great hormone levels after ovulation and Logan tested perfect and so we started with three months of clomid. We then did another three months of clomid with IUI. After that didn’t work out, we went to a great fertility clinic in Houston and found out I have diminished ovarian reserved (basically i have very few eggs and the ones I have are poor quality). We tried one IVF cycle knowing it probably would be a bust and it was. I only produced two follicles (they may hold eggs), so we did another IUI.

We are currently working with an anonymous egg donor with our clinic. When this journey started I figured that it was going to take a few months that my age would make it easier to get pregnant. WRONG! Infertility doesn’t discriminate and I am very happy that there are women out there willing to take the meds and donate their eggs to give my husband and myself a chance to have a family. We are super excited about the next few months and will be sharing this journey VERY openly on this blog (also sharing past infertility experiences).

During this tough time in our life (everyone has something going on), I joined a wonderful, supportive and positive company, Beachbody, as an Independent Team Beachbody Coach. Through this business, I want to help others in their health and fitness journey. I have lost 40 pounds over the last year just by changing my nutrition. I am not an expert on these things, but my goal is to help others find the tools to help them in their health and fitness journey.
